What is progressive Overload and why your workout needs it

Many new clients come to us saying they have been working out a lot, but not seeing results. In their intro session, we dive a little deeper into their current training and find out that though they are moving a lot, their programming is missing a key element- progressive overload.
When it comes to training, here are a few ways to do it:
- Add a little weight. Even half a pound counts.
- Do one more rep. Add a rep for each set or even just 1 set.
- Slow it down. Control the tempo to make the movement tougher.
- Shorten rest time. Use this for your cardio/sprinting.
The key word here is gradually. You don’t need to go all-in every session. The goal is to nudge your limits, not smash them. Over time, a consistent program with those little increases will give you big gains in your strength, energy, and confidence.
That’s progressive overload in action, and it’s your built-in recipe for lasting results. And that is why all Ethos training programs are built around this principal.
