I've been to a lot of gyms and worked with a lot of trainers. In my experience Ethos has the most dedicated staff I've ever seen. The trainers don't just walk you through a routine or a set of skills just to get to the next client. There's always an explanation and description of muscle groups you're training and they guide you with firm motivation. The trainers are always educating themselves and achieving higher certifications to keep me fit and active. There's an energy level to Ethos that most gyms do not have. This energy and the staff make me want to do better and train harder when I'm there.
This is not a muscle head gym. Yes they're a kettle bell gym but there is absolutely ZERO attitude. No meatheads just real people who want to see you succeed and reach your goals. As a person who gets extremely bored picking things up putting things down I never get bored at Ethos.
Training with coach Jay, my work outs are always challenging and different, never routine. He's helped me reach my weight and fitness goals in just a few months! Jay understands my limits and sports related injuries. He works with and around them and constantly pushes me to be fitter, stronger and most important healthier. I'll miss this gym when I move away from Boston!
Jess is my coach and honestly she has been life changing find! I look forward to my sessions with her every week. I've become stronger and I'm a better athlete! Just completed my first Triathlon and with Jess's program, encouragement and instruction i kicked its butt and felt great! The whole team at Ethos is amazing. Great atmosphere to train in, be challenged, get stronger and make new friends along the way! Thanks Jess and Ethos!!
I can’t say enough about the training and motivation from Ethos! I was humming along with a great trainer, Jay, and then unexpectedly had to have surgery on my thumb while healing a sprained ankle. Yep, a huge downer! Without missing a beat “Coach” Jay designed personalized workouts for me -- at Ethos and at home – for the three months I was out of commission. Now I’m back, ready to continue work on core strength, confidence, and my new personal goal, to be able to run a mile and perform an unassisted chin-up! What a blast this place really is!
I've been working with Jess at Ethos for the past four months and have loved it. For as long as I can remember, I've struggled to stick with or enjoy a fitness routine but that all changed when I started going to Ethos in the fall. Jess took the time to get to know me and my goals and really learn what I need to be successful. Her training style has motivated me and resulted in me not only staying with it but truly looking forward to every session. She asks questions, understands what challenges me, pays close attention, personalizes my workouts and her approach to set me up for success - and goes above and beyond in helping to keep me accountable to my goals and commitments by checking in via text. She is so knowledgeable about technique, thorough in explaining how to do things correctly, why we do them and what muscle groups they target. I've been really happy with the results I've seen so far, feel stronger and more energetic than I ever have before, am committed to this work and look forward to continuing to see results.
All of this, plus unlike other gyms I've gone to in the past where I've felt intimidated, Ethos has an amazing, inclusive and encouraging community with a friendly team of trainers that always make you feel welcome. I absolutely love it there and would highly recommend Ethos to anyone, at any level of fitness, who is looking for an awesome place to get healthy and fit, surrounded by great people.
Before starting to work with Ethos via their online training portal I was inconsistently training without a specific goal or purpose. I was working out at the BSC 3 to 4 times a week but didn’t have a plan in place so I wasn’t seeing any results. Since I have worked with Ethos, I feel such a positive difference in my body. I have lost weight and feel stronger. Mentally, I feel more focused and driven too. I would 100% recommend Ethos online training to others. It is fantastic. As I am unable to get to Ethos on a daily basis, this is a perfect option for me since I still wanted to train with my favorite coaches! The online training portal is super easy to use and my coach uploads plans specific to me and my own goals. I feel more accountable for my workouts because I need to post when I complete each exercise and make comments on the weights I used/ how fast or far I ran. I also love being able to look back at the previous week so that I can focus on improving each week. My coach is extremely responsive to all my comments/questions/videos. Overall, I am extremely happy with the program and am excited for my next cycle!
I've been training at Ethos for over a year and am so happy to have found them. Before taking their classes I found working out either boring (can you say elliptical) or so intimidating in large-chain gyms.
Classes at Ethos focused are challenging, but without ego and intimidation. Part of it is the positive environment they've created. There is so much encouragement and sense of community even with all different fitness levels and ages. The people who take their classes are the type of people you'd want to get a beer (or healthy Whole Foods smoothie) with after class.
"Kettlebells, ooh, they look tough" I thought, so I joined an Ethos charity workout to try things out and then I was hooked. The team provide well thought out and challenging training sessions while staying on top of form for all levels. In this charity workout, I was in a class with people that had been in their program much longer. Yet Jay + Jess took the time to make me comfortable and teach me the proper way to do the exercises (all while not singling me out). Their personalized attention has kept me coming back! The instructors are encouraging, charming, and very knowledgable. Now just 5 month slater i am training in the advanced classes and my strength and movement have never been better.
After working with another trainer for about a year, Ethos has taken it to another level. Since working with Joe, I've put on weight in the form of lean muscle mass (which is an ongoing goal) increased my bench press, squat, deadlift, whilst learning the way of the kettlebell too. I used to have chronic back aches that are completely gone since working with Joe. I once threw out my back making my bed, now can dead lift over 200 pounds.
The Ethos team are by your side for moment and will help you make adjustments rep to rep. They are great motivators and encourage you to keep working out on your own, once they're sure you know the program. They keep the workouts appropriate and diverse whilst still maintaining the focused goal they set with you.
Always a challenging and productive training session. I have trained with Matt to help rid myself of pain from an old injury, the success that I achieved and the fun along the way was fantastic. At 55 I'm in better shape than I've ever been, and have learned how to train the most effectively. I've seen the whole team in action, Ethos is the place to be.
I have been a trainer for 6 years and have been training myself for my entire career. The StrongFirst LII Strength test was the greatest challenge I have ever trained for and not getting on the first try at the certification weekend was quite a blow. Jay was my coach at the cert and he went out of his way to find me afterwards and offered to coach me from across the country to pass my strength test and gain my credential.
Jay went above and beyond to help me succeed. He was in touch everyday about how the training was going and making sure the day to day details were accurate. Not only was Jay's program successful in helping me press the 44kg bell for my certification, but it was so well thought out and planned for me specifically. It was obvious it wasn't a generic strength program. I work 10-14 hrs a day 5 days a week, so getting stronger doesn't always fit in my calendar. Jay took this into account, designing the perfect program for me. He made sure I could see results without having to change my schedule and I could not be more thankful for that.
If you have the opportunity to work with Jay, DO IT. Not only will he challenge you and push you to results you need, but he will also take time to make sure you're and sane while doing it. Fitness can be consuming and stressful, especially when you have big goals, but Jay takes all that out and makes it all about the results. 6 weeks of remote training and I couldn't be happier with where I am now.
I've been a life-long fitness nut, but I'd been stuck doing the same old thing for way too long. In the past year, working with Joe, he's showed me a whole new way to approach training, blast through plateaus, and make the gym interesting, challenging and fun again. People are friendly, down to earth, supportive and provide just the right amount of healthy competition. It's a great environment to be a part of.
I walked through the door with literally ZERO gym experience. Since joining, I took advantage of the personal training program, learnt the ropes and saw great result. Now I have the confidence, understanding and independence to train in all class levels and come 5 days per week! I am more confident, more social, stronger, in great shape after losing 30lbs and I simply enjoy life more. This place is genuinely life-changing.
I have been training at Ethos since it's inception. My trainer Matt , I have to say he is the most knowledgable, focused trainer I've ever worked with. He takes the time to discuss my fitness goals and incorporates the appropriate training and advice on diet in order to meet my goals. He really know his stuff when it comes to the human body and the appropriate muscle groups and how they should be worked. I train with him twice a week for an hour of non stop focused training! My body has never felt or looked better! In addition I attend Ethos classes to balance out my training schedule. I love the camaraderie of other members who are all supportive and in it for the same reasons, to feel happier healthier and stronger. The team is amazing and the mission of Ethos keeps me going back for more!! Thanks to all!!
Super gym, super people. I've been working with Jay for over 2 years, he's been amazing! Getting mentally healthy, losing weight, improving nutrition, strength and overall fitness, the complete package. The whole staff is super friendly, as is the community that has grown around the positive mindset and focus on the love of training. A truly really amazing place to rediscover your hidden animal!
